Homonyms are words that have similar spelling and pronunciation, but with different meaning. Meanwhile, it is often interchanged with homophones, which ordinarily represent something quite different.
What are Homophones?
Homophones are similar-sounding words with a slight difference in spelling; but altogether conveying different meaning.
Example:
a. meat/meet: The former means the eatable part of an animal, while the latter means coming in contact with someone.
b. fourth/fought/fort: Fourth is the ordinal form of the number, four. Fought is the past tense of fight, while fort means a stronghold.
